67 building materials

No matching material. Try “stairs”, “glass” or “concrete”.

Quantities follow Minecraft Java 1.21.5 recipes, which match Bedrock for these materials. Recipes that accept any planks use oak.

How the resource calculator works

Plan the whole build at once

Add every finished block you need, such as stairs, glass panes or concrete. The calculator works backwards through each recipe, adds shared ingredients together and only then rounds up to whole crafts, so planks for stairs, doors and sticks come from one pile of logs.

For example, 65 oak stairs need 17 crafts: 102 oak planks make 68 stairs, leaving 3 spare. Those planks come from 26 oak logs, with 2 planks left over. Spare items are shown in the crafting order.

Crafting table or stonecutter

At a crafting table, 6 blocks make 4 stairs and 3 blocks make 6 slabs. A stonecutter turns 1 block into 1 stair, 2 slabs or 1 wall. For 100 stone brick stairs, crafting needs 152 cobblestone; the stonecutter needs 100. Wood cannot be cut in a stonecutter.

Furnace fuel

Every smelted item counts once: cobblestone into stone, sand into glass and clay balls into bricks. Coal smelts 8 items, a dried kelp block 20, a block of coal 80 and a lava bucket 100. Fuel assumes one furnace does all the smelting; spreading the work across several furnaces can use part of one more fuel item each.

What the calculation assumes

Base materials are things you collect or already have: logs, cobblestone, sand, gravel, clay balls, quartz, iron ingots, dyes, leather and sugar cane. Concrete powder hardens when it touches water, which is not counted. Tools, crafting stations and items already in your chests are not included.
