Start from a block
219 building blocksNo matching block. Try “planks”, “bricks” or “copper”.
Textures and colours come from Minecraft Java 1.21.5, and Bedrock textures are nearly identical. IDs are Java IDs; a few blocks have other IDs in Bedrock. Logs, pillars and other blocks with different faces use the side you see on a wall.
How the block palette generator works
Start from a colour or a block
Choose a start colour with the picker, type a hex code or tap a dye colour. To match a block you already use, choose it under Start from a block: it stays first in the palette and the other blocks are measured against its texture. Spruce planks, for example, give stripped spruce log, oak log, coarse dirt, brown concrete powder, brown wool, dirt and mud bricks as the 7 closest blocks.
Closest colours or light to dark
Closest colours ranks every block by how far its colour is from the start colour and keeps the nearest ones. Use it to mix blocks into one rich texture, such as a cobblestone and andesite path. Light to dark spreads the palette over brighter and darker shades of the same colour, from the top of a wall to its base. Use it for depth, weathering and roof shading. For a transition between two colours or two blocks, use the block gradient generator.
Families and hidden blocks
Choose one or more block families, such as Wood and Stone, to keep the palette in materials that suit your build. Start from oak planks with only Stone selected to find the stones that match your wood. Hide a block with × to replace it with the next closest one; Show again brings every hidden block back.
Preview a wall and collect the blocks
The wall preview mixes the palette at the size you choose, up to 64 × 64 blocks. What to collect counts each block in that wall and converts it to stacks of 64. Plan the crafting sends the craftable blocks, such as planks, stone bricks or quartz, to the Resource calculator. Copy list gives the block names and Java IDs, WorldEdit copies a pattern for //set or //replace, and PNG saves an image of the palette and the wall.
How the colours are measured
Each block colour is the average of the 256 pixels of its Minecraft Java 1.21.5 texture, measured in linear light so that a busy texture is judged the way it looks from a few blocks away. Distances use CIEDE2000, a colour difference formula that follows human vision: below 4 is very close, above 16 is an accent. Logs show their bark, and quartz pillars, basalt and hay bales their sides.
The generator includes 219 full, solid building blocks: concrete, wool, terracotta, wood, stone, deepslate, sandstone, bricks, Nether, End, metal and natural blocks. Glass, plants, light sources, glazed terracotta and blocks tinted by the biome, such as grass and leaves, are not included. Lighting, shaders and resource packs change how blocks look, so test a small patch in your world before building big.
