Your block gradient
Updates as you change itNo block matches these families. Choose another family or show the hidden blocks.

Start on the left, end on the right, blended where neighbours meet.
Choose a block
219 building blocksNo matching block. Try “planks”, “bricks” or “copper”.
Textures and colours come from Minecraft Java 1.21.5, and Bedrock textures are nearly identical. IDs are Java IDs; a few blocks have other IDs in Bedrock. Logs, pillars and other blocks with different faces use the side you see on a wall.
How the block gradient generator works
Choose the two ends
Each end of the gradient is a colour or a block. Pick a colour, type a hex code or choose a block under Choose a block, with Use as start or Use as end selected. Swap turns the gradient around. The examples start from wood tones, stone to deepslate or a sunset in concrete, wool and terracotta.
The default gradient runs from birch planks to dark oak planks in 8 steps, using wood only: birch planks, stripped oak log, oak planks, stripped jungle log, stripped spruce log, oak log, mangrove log and dark oak planks.
Steps and close matches
The generator spaces the steps evenly in CIELAB, a colour space built so that equal steps look equal, then finds a different block for every step. Blocks are put in order along the gradient, so a slightly lighter block never lands on the dark side. With Only close matches on, a step is left out when no unused block is close to its colour, rather than filled with an odd accent. Turn it off to fill every step.
Families and hidden blocks
Choose one or more block families to keep the gradient in one material, such as Wood, or mix Stone with Deepslate & blackstone for a weathered wall. Start and end blocks are always kept. Hide a block with × to use the next closest one; Show again brings it back.
Build the gradient
The wall preview runs from the start on the left to the end on the right, or from the top to the base when you choose Top to bottom. Neighbouring blocks are mixed where they meet, which hides the seam between steps. Set the wall size up to 64 × 64 blocks; What to collect counts each block in stacks of 64, and Plan the crafting sends the craftable blocks to the Resource calculator. Copy list gives the names and Java IDs in order, and PNG saves an image of the gradient.
For a single colour family without two fixed ends, such as several shades of moss green, use the block palette generator.
How the colours are measured
Each block colour is the average of the 256 pixels of its Minecraft Java 1.21.5 texture, measured in linear light so that a busy texture is judged the way it looks from a few blocks away. Distances use CIEDE2000: below 4 is very close, 16 or more is an accent. The 219 blocks are full, solid building blocks; glass, plants, light sources, glazed terracotta and grass or leaves tinted by the biome are not included. Lighting, shaders and resource packs change how blocks look, so test a short strip in your world first.
